Lakers fall to the Hornets
Sunday the Lakers were beat by the Hornets in the first game of the playoffs. Can the Hornets pull an upset and win the series? I say no. The Hornets shot 51% from the field and I do not see that happening again. The Lakers played pretty well but its hard to win when your oppenents are making most their shots. Kobe and Phil Jackson will not let the Lakers fall early they will go pretty far in the playoffs.

Kemba Walker
UConn Guard Kemba Walker has probably played his last game as a Husky. Sources say that Walker not coming back for his senior year and he is going pro. I think that this is a great decision for Kemba. He had a spectacular season and winning the championship was the icing on the cake. Right now he is pretty much a guaranteed first round pick. If he stays at UConn, he runs the risk of getting hurt or playing poorly which will affect what round he goes in. I think he made the right choice and hopefully he plays this well in the pros.
Point Shaving
Recently 10 people from the University of San Diego Mens Basketball team are being charged with running a sports betting business to affect the outcome of games. This to me outstanding. I can't believe that the players would actually try to influence a game for a bet. They are playing the game for the wrong reason and they shouldn't play again. Sports should not be like this and I hope that all those people get the punishment that they deserve.
Tigers Return
The Masters last weekend was a great event to watch. It was good to see a lot of unexpected people be at the top of the leader-board but I was happy to see Tiger Woods fighting for the lead. He has been playing terrible and this tournament turned it around for him. Even though Tiger was up at the top, I think that he still struggled a lot and mostly it was with his putting. He could not make a putt to save his life and that drove me insane. Other than the putting, I think that he was striking the ball nicely and was playing smart golf. I think that Tiger is starting his comeback and hopefully we will see him winning more tournaments.

Jolly gets busted again
Defensive lineman Johnny Jolly of the Green Bay Packers was arrested on another drug charge. He was pulled over and cops found 600 grams of codeine and a bottle of an unidentified substance with intent to sell them. He was also driving the car under a suspended license. Jolly was arrested in 2008 for having 200 grams of codeine and he got off very easy. He was given another chance and he messes it up by doing the same mistake. There is no way he needs the money that bad. I feel like the courts are not going to take it easy on him this time and he could be facing a good amount of jail time.
VCU
VCU is definitely the Cinderella team in this tournament and no one has expected them to go this. I surely didn't and I know a lot people are upset because this team messed up a lot of peoples brackets. Anyways, VCU is playing very good basketball and they are now in the Final Four. I always root for the underdog and VCU is by far the underdog in this situation. VCU was on the bubble on getting in the tournament and they did not expect to be in it but now they are stunning the sports nation. All we can do now is wait and see if they can keep going and possibly win the tournament.

Jim Tressel
Ohio State Coach Jim Tressel is getting in trouble for knowing that his players were taking improper benefits. Tressel was aware of these actions for at least 9 months and he is now being suspended due to these actions. The players who took improper benefits were given a 5 game suspension and Tressel told the NCAA that he wants the same punishment as his players. That shows me that Tressel is taking responsibility for his own actions and is showing good leadership by requesting the same punishment. Tressel broke the rules and he was getting a lot of controvery over it but I think that by him taking responsibility and taking the same punishment, he will finally earn respect back from the public and the fans.

Resigning Aj Hawk
The Green Bay Packers recently Aj Hawk becused the did not want to pay him what he wanted. So when they released him Hawk was free to talk to any team and choose to focus on the Packers and they ended up resiging Hawk and came up with a contract that would make both parties happy. I think that the Packers made a great choice. If players want more money and you do not want to pay them that, then release them. Plain and simple. Does Hawk deserve more money? I would say yes because he is a big part of their defense since they lost Barnett and Chillar to season ending injuries. But I think that the players should get what the organization says they do and this is a perfect example of the Green Bay Packers stepping up and telling an athlete NO.

Bibby to the Heat
Mike Bibby recently agreed to forfeit the 6.2 million dollars he was owed by the Washington Wizards in order to be a free agent and play for the Miami Heat for the league minimum. The 32 year old point guard is happy with his decision and can't wait for the season with the Heat. The question is, will he contribute to the team? I would say no. Bibby was a great player when he was on the Kings but I think that he is out of his prime and his best days are behind him. He is not going to be a big factor on the team and I would keep Mario Chalmers as the starter over Bibby. They both have around the same stats but Chalmers is 24 years old. I would keep in to learn as much as he can and grow more as a player. As for Bibby, I think his career is coming to a slow and close halt.

Baron Davis
Baron Davis was just recently traded from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Mo Williams and Jamario Moon. Baron Davis was just starting to get happy at the Clippers because him and Blake Griffin made a good duo. Now Baron goes from being on a promising team, to a team with no hope at all. To make it plain and simple, the Cavs are terrible. Baron Davis is not enough to turn that team around and he is not going to go all out because he is not going to be happy. He is a good player but he cannot do it all by himself. If he had a team around him, he wouldn't be a bad piece to the puzzle but the Cavs are hurting bad. Not only is he not happy but Blake Griffin is highly disappointed that he is gone. They had a good relationship on and off the court so he does not seem to happy this trade either. I am just really interested to see how Baron does at the Cavs and I am wondering if he will actually make a difference or not.

Williams to the Nets
With the disappointed of the Nets not aquiring Carmelo Anthony, they recently traded with the Utah Jazz to get point guard Deron Williams. In the trade, the Nets traded Derrick Favors, Devin Harris, 2 first round draft picks as well as cash considerations. Even though Deron Williams is one of the best point guards in the leauge, I think they got rid of way to much to get him. Favors and Harris are solid players and they could get very good first draft picks who are also younger. The Nets gave up way to much for one player and I think that might hurt the team.

3bler
Jon Diebler is a 6'6 guard who plays for The Ohio State University. This Thusday, Feb. 20 he will be playing the Purdue Boilermakers in hope of breaking the Big-Ten record for most made 3-pointers. Right now he has a total of 331 made 3-pointers which puts him 1 behind the leader. Everyone is anticipation to see him reach this record because this is really memorable espically looking at Diebler's past. When he was a freshman, he was shooting 29% behind the arc and now his senior year he is up to 48%. That shows everyone that he worked really hard in the gym to get to where he is and he won't stop till he reaches his goal. All we can do now is wait and watch.

New Manny
Last season when we saw Manny Ramirez play, he was over-weight, out of shape and he didn't seem to be motivated. Now he getting back to his old self. He has been hitting the gym as hard as ever. He is there very early and he goes there highly motivated. He wants to lose weight so he has been seeing a nutritionist who has been helping him with his goal. I am really glad to see Manny changing his ways. For the past couple years I was really disappointed in him because he was not caring about the game of baseball like he used to when he was younger. Now I think he starting to care again and he is doing the necessary things to get back to his old self. I just cannot wait for the season to start and to see how does.

The Vikings banking on the lottery
The Minnesota Vikings has found a very unique way to help pay for their new stadium. They are in a partnership with the Minnesota State Lottery and the NFL on a scratch off ticket with the Vikings theme and logo. The scratch off ticket is $10 and they have already made 12 million dollars which makes it one of the most successful lottery games in the state. They will use this money to help pay for the new stadium that could cost around $900 million dollars. The Vikings did a very good job about thinking of this idea and they are making a very good profit. Even though the money is not gonna cover a large chunk of the price, it is still money and any bit helps. I think that working with the lottery is a great idea and I believe other teams should do the same thing in order to make more money and help out the organization.

Melo to the Lakers?
There has been a lot of talk recently saying that Carmelo Anthony might get traded to Los Angeles Lakers for Lakers center Andrew Bynum. Is this a good trade for Lakers? I would have to say yes. Bynum's knee injury has put him out for about 45 games this season so he has not been that beneficial to the team. Even though the Lakers look at Bynum as someone who will take over the team when Kobe retires, I think that it is time to move on and get Anthony. He is a very skilled player and would fit well team. With Melo on the team the starting five will most likely be Bryant, Fisher, Anthony, Odom, and Gasol. That is a very dynamic starting five and that team will go places.

There has been a lot of technology out there that has changed they way we follow sport. For instance, there is an Application out there called the NFL Mobile App which most of you have probably heard of. You can get this application on your smartphone or I-pad and the application is really beneficial if you are on the move. Some features you can do with this app is checking scores, injurys, play by plays, upcoming schedule, statistics, watching the actual game and many more things. Most people are not home to watch or keep up with a game because we are very busy doing other things. This application now brings the game to you so you can keep up with your sports teams while you are on the move.
