Resigning Aj Hawk
The Green Bay Packers recently Aj Hawk becused the did not want to pay him what he wanted. So when they released him Hawk was free to talk to any team and choose to focus on the Packers and they ended up resiging Hawk and came up with a contract that would make both parties happy. I think that the Packers made a great choice. If players want more money and you do not want to pay them that, then release them. Plain and simple. Does Hawk deserve more money? I would say yes because he is a big part of their defense since they lost Barnett and Chillar to season ending injuries. But I think that the players should get what the organization says they do and this is a perfect example of the Green Bay Packers stepping up and telling an athlete NO.

I agree with this. I think that the team should have the power in contract negotiations. I do not know where players got this sense of entitlement.
ReplyDeleteI agree that it is a great example of an organization not giving what the athletes want. I just think that this whole situation with the NFL is so ridiculous. It is so sad that the athletes and owners are not satisfied with the millions of dollars that they are already making. We even talked about this in American Sport in the 21st Century that athletes want more money but we have politicians running our country for a MUCH lesser amount. It is so ridiculous!
ReplyDeleteI understand where AJ was coming from as to why he wanted more money, he certainly deserved it after the year he had. Of course, the situation got out of hand because the Packers did not feel he was as worth as much and with the situation of the lockout, that made it tough for both sides to agree to close terms.
